EE Supercross Team Struggles in Opener, Sets Sights on PhoenixJanuary 13, 2012 11:24 am ·
Race Update: Topher Ingalls did not qualify for the Main Event in Phoenix, finishing 20th in the first heat and 5th in the Last Chance Qualifier.
The opening round of the 2012 AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series was disappointing for the Experts Exchange Racing team. After a strong showing in time trials at Anaheim 1 last week, Experts Exchange rider Topher Ingalls finished 20th in the qualifying heat and 16th in the last-chance qualifier.
“I rode tight all night and really struggled with my starts,” says Ingalls.
The fifth-year rider also noted that the track was tough to figure out in Anaheim.
“Everyone who watched the race knows the track was a mixture of an endurocross course and a backwoods Oklahoma fair race, so to say we struggled with the bike setup would be an understatement,” he continued. “All that aside, my starts were where my night ended and starts are the first thing I need to work on.”
With a full week of practice on the home track under his belt, Ingalls has set his sights on a better showing at the Monster Energy Supercross Event at Chase Field this Saturday (January 14th) in Phoenix.
“I put in the work this week so we can show up to Phoenix more prepared and equipped to do what needs to be done.”
The 12-round championship series features the premier 450 Class with reigning AMA Supercross Series Champion Ryan Villopoto. Topher Ingalls will ride the Experts Exchange motorcycle in the the 250 Class, which will crown a new champion in 2012.
