Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have reached our goal! Not only did we receive enough t-shirt donations, but many members donated additional funds, which will be matched by EE owner Randy Redberg! Read the full details of how these donations are going to help build a 3rd well in Ethiopia.

Over the past two years, the Experts Exchange community has been giving the shirts off of their backs to help those in need around the world. In 2010 and 2011, the community donated close to 1,300 of the t-shirts that they earned from answering questions and achieving new ranks and certifications on Experts Exchange to Water Run–a non-profit organization that builds sustainable water wells in Africa.

Currently, over 1 billion people around the world lack access to clean drinking water and nearly 6,000 people (5,000 of which are children), die every day as a result of diseases from contaminated water.  So, until everyone has access to this most basic human necessity, Experts Exchange will continue to partner with Water Run to build wells for people in need.

This year, we’re raising funds to build a well in the Aditigray Village of Ethiopia. (GPS coordinates: E39.25018, N13.2558 ). The region is home to over 350 people in need of clean drinking water.

In order to fund a well in the Aditigray Village, at least 500 t-shirts must be donated by January 31, 2013.

If you’d like to donate some of your t-shirts to the Experts Exchange Charity Campaign, here’s how:

Follow the normal t-shirt redemption process:

  • Edit your profile.
  • Click the “Rewards” tab .
  • Click the “Shirts” link in that tab. You will see a list of the shirts that you have earned and are eligible to redeem.
  • Click the “Redeem” button. You will be taken to a page asking for your shipping information and t-shirt size.
  • Write “Donate to charity” in every field EXCEPT for the phone number field on the page that asks for your shipping information.
  • Click “Submit.”

Once you submit the redemption form, we will be notified of your donation and your t-shirt(s) will be added to the total number of t-shirts donated.

A new way to give back

Don’t have any rank t-shirts waiting to be redeemed? Don’t worry! We’ve added a new element to this year’s Charity Campaign.  Anyone wanting to support Water Run and the projects they undertake can donate directly to the organization–just $20 gives one person clean water for 20 years.  One hundred percent of donations made to Water Run go directly to water projects and Experts Exchange owner Randy Redberg will match 100% of the contributions made by Experts Exchange community members through January 31, 2013.

To make sure your donation is matched by Experts Exchange, simply fill out the donation form and write Experts Exchange in the memo at the bottom of the form.

If you have any questions about the Experts Exchange Charity Campaign, you can contact Customer Service.

Remember, we need 500 t-shirts donated by January 31, 2013 to bring clean water to the Aditigray Village of Ethiopia. We’ll keep you posted on the status of the campaign as things progress.  On your mark. Get set. DONATE!

  • Done 🙂

  • 9 T-Shirts donated. Sorry it isn’t more 🙁 I even donated my new Prodigy T-Shirt!!

    Hope they come flooding in.

  • I just donated 7. I’d have done more, but after the last two charity drives I didn’t have much left. Unlike Alan, though, I plan on keeping my Prodigy and Ace shirts 🙂

  • madunix

DONE!… EE keep up the great work.

  • You are all awesome! Thank you SO MUCH for your donations!

  • JarZe

I don’t have as much T-Shirts as some of the guys around here, but the 2 I had have been donated.
    Keep it up EE!

  • krakatoa

They wouldn’t look as good on me in any case! Hope they keep someone warm(er). k.

  • Rouchie

    That’s my 6 donated…!

  • smckeown777

Only had the 3…but all donated! Keep up the good work…

  • Ryan McCauley

I just donated four – great cause! At this point, I’ll just keep one per new level and leave the rest on deck for whatever campaign is run at the end of next year!

  • erniebeek

    Eight more coming your way.

And now to start collecting for the next run (except perhaps my upcoming ace shirt 😉
This is by far the easiest way I’ve ever seen to donate to a good cause, just by using the knowledge you have……

  • Donated 6. Hope you reach the target!

  • tliotta

Nope. Not gonna do it. I want my T-shirts.

So… I went and put a cash donation in that I thought should cover them, plus some vig. That seemed like a good compromise. Somehow I figure they can make better use of my cash.

  • RobWill

    Great cause, submitted 20

  • Mark

A Bakers Dozen added to the cause…
    And a pile of cash…
    But why the deadline ?

  • Andrew Hancock

    5 T-Shirts donated. – Andy

  • andyalder

I donated a few (phew-smelly) but EE haven’t updated the list of givers so I probably won’t bother to give them next year.
