Tech at TED PreviewFebruary 28, 2012 9:17 am ·
This week I’m attending the TEDActive conference in Palm Springs. For those of you who are not familiar with TEDActive, it’s the smaller, more relaxed sister to the TED conference taking place in Long Beach this week. TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, was founded by Chris Anderson in 1984 and attracts the best and brightest minds each year to share “Ideas worth spreading” (the TED mission) in the form of short (18 minute or less) TEDTalks.
At TEDActive, 500 people gather to watch a simulcast of the main TED event and discuss each talk throughout the day. I’ll be blogging about the technology related talks here on the EE Tech News blog this week. I took a look at the TED program and thought I’d give you a preview of the speakers I’ll be blogging about.
TedTalks 2012 (tech related) Speaker Lineup
- Henrik Scharfe is a roboticist who researches how technology can help us understand what it is to be human. The bulk of his research is conducted through interaction and observation of the robot he made in his likeness, Geminoid-DK.
- Regina Dugan is the director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
- Reid Hoffman is probably the speaker we all are the most familiar with. I’m personally the most excited to hear what the LinkedIn founder and Greylock Partners investor has to say.
Stay tuned for more updates all week!
