It seems you can’t turn the corner at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas without bumping into a tablet manufacturer.  Yesterday, I checked out lesser known tablet manufacturer Velocity Micro’s line of Cruz tablets and today Toshiba’s Tablets Product Manager, Carrie Cowan gave e a demo of Toshiba’s new premium tablet, the Excite X10.

The Excite X10 runs on a TI OMAP 4430 1.2GHz Dual-Core Processor, and targets the tech-savvy consumer looking for a stylish tablet that they can take anywhere.  The super-thin (.3 inches) 10.1″ tablet weighs just 1.2lbs and sports Corning Gorilla Glass 2 to make it ultra-durable.

Like most Toshiba tablets, the Excite X10 has a ton of ports: a Micro HDMI 1.3 port, a USB port, and a Micro SD card slot that supports up to 32 GB.  The tablet also has a front-facing 2MP camera and rear-facing 5MP camera, bluetooth and GPS.  Best of all, Toshiba is trying its hardest to ship the Excite X10 with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)

The Excite X10 will retail between $549-599, but as is unfortunately par for the course here at CES, Cowan was unwilling to disclose its availability date.

Personally, I’m getting overwhelmed by all the tablets being demoed here at CES and am somewhat underwhelmed with their features.  While the Excite X10 boasts some impressive specs, there was nothing about the tablet that particularly excited me. What about you? What do you think of the Excite X10?
