Social Media Week 2012 SPSocial media is a part of everything we do these days. For some of us, it’s part of the job. For others, it’s a convenient alternative to pesky email. And still others just like staying connected all day for the sake of seeing what others are doing and keeping others posted on everything from their physical location to the food they happen to be eating at the moment. But have you ever stopped to think about how much time we actually spend tweeting, pinning, +1-ing, and posting on our friends’ Walls?

A new infographic from Visual.ly shows us how much time—and on which sites—we spend on the various social networking sites out there. To be sure, some of the results are less surprising than others. With its 900-plus million users, Facebook by far attracts the most monthly visitors (7012.9 million to be precise) and, in turn, keeps them busy for the longest (405 minutes per month). Meanwhile, Pinterest keeps users occupied for just as long each month, despite having a fraction of the users (11.7 million) and traffic (104.4 million per month) that Facebook enjoys.

On the other hand, some statistics were just downright depressing—well, on in particular. Google+, which appears to be closing in on the 200 million mark in terms of users (currently at 170 million), still only attracts about a third of those users each month. And as soon as they log in, they’re logging right back out a mere three minutes later on average.

Take a look at the infographic below to find out other interesting facts about our average monthly social media consumption.
