EE Supercross Rider Topher Ingalls Places 8th in Salt Lake City, Prepares for Final Race in Las Vegas

After placing 8th overall in the Salt Lake City Supercross Lites event last Saturday, Experts Exchange rider Topher Ingalls has high hopes for this weekend’s finale in Las Vegas.

“I came into Salt Lake City know that I had all the ingredients to put in a solid finish,” explains Ingalls. “I just had to find a way to put it all together.”

After a series of disappointing finishes earlier in the season (his best finish to date was 15th place), Topher earned his first top-ten finish of the year on the strength of a new motor, better physical conditioning and some race-day smarts.

“In the main event I chose the very inside gate and exited the first turn around 12th,” says Ingalls, walking us through the race. “There was some carnage up front and I made a pass and found myself in 10th most of the way. Late in the race I was able to make a final pass, and Wilson dropped out of the race which gave me an 8th place finish.”

During the two-month break leading up to the Seattle event the Experts Exchange Racing Team rebuilt the motor; the changes had an immediate effect.

“I finally got my bike fine turned and working exactly the way I want,” continues Ingalls. “Seattle was my first time riding with the new Eleven10 Mods motor so it was kind of a learning experience for me, but the race definitely showed me the potential was there.”

The 2012 AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series wraps at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 5th.  While the Supercross Lites have already crowned the 2012 champion (Eli Tomac clinched in Salt Lake City), Ingalls sees an opportunity to showcase his new-found confidence.

“You never know what’s going to happen in Las Vegas,” he beams. “I’m going to go out there and do my best and end the season well for the Experts Exchange Team.”
