Nominate the 2014 Class of Most Valuable ExpertsOctober 27, 2014 12:07 pm ·
From Microsoft MVPs to Java Champions, VMware vExperts, and Oracle Aces, the experts on Experts Exchange are real people with real-world technology experience and are recognized professionals in their fields.
But even amongst our excellent contributors a few rise above the rest, and each year we honor them as our Most Valuable Experts. Nominate a Most Valuable Expert on the form below. Please note the last day to nominate is December 5, 2014.
What is the Most Valuable Expert (MVE) award?
The MVE is an annual award bestowed to 12 of the tens of thousands of technology experts on Experts Exchange. This award recognizes experts for their outstanding community contributions. Recipients are nominated by other community members, so anyone is eligible.
What makes a Most Valuable Expert?
While the points and certification system recognizes achievements on Experts Exchange, this award focuses on how a member earns their points and how they contribute to others. In addition to achieving recognition as an expert in their field, they are also outstanding in their community interactions. The MVE award is first and foremost about community.
MVEs are more concerned with the satisfaction of those they help than with the considerable points they can earn. They are the types of people you feel privileged to call colleagues.
How Most Valuable Experts are selected
All MVEs are nominated by you, the community. Being nominated is the manifestation of achievement, because the MVE award is not given to just anyone. It is an exclusive and elite award recognizing your outstanding contributions to the community.
These candidates are then evaluated by a panel of community members and staff in multiple categories:
- Community contributions
- Member feedback
- Professionalism and courtesy
- Technical prowess
How to become a Most Valuable Expert
Becoming an MVE depends heavily on attitude and quality of work throughout Experts Exchange: answering questions, writing articles, participating on blogs, and more. Nominees will need to have been a member for the entire year prior, and indicate a commitment to continue at a similar level for the upcoming year.
It is important to have achieved an acceptable level of certification, via points or elsewhere, within your area of expertise. You don’t need to be a Savant, but you do need to be an acknowledged subject matter expert, after all we are a technology site.
Step 1: Get nominated. The more the better, but do not solicit for nominations.
Step 2: The selection board, comprised of community members and staff, will review all nominees and select 12 experts to receive MVE designation.
Step 3: We will notify the winning experts directly, notifying them they have received the award. At this point they may accept or reject the recognition without any prejudice.
Step 4: The recipients are announced to the Experts Exchange community on our awards page.
